Amazing Adventures in the Arts--Tennessee Arts Academy

It has been an amazing two days here in Nashville. Monday was band day. We attended a wonderful concert by the 129th Army Band. They rocked the house with their rendition of Ray Charles America the Beautiful. During muses we heard from Ret. Colonel Lowell Graham. The stories he told of leading the U.S. Air Force Band made me want to sign up to play an instrument in the band. Of course basic training stops me. Oh wait an Air Force Guardsmen and our four children would stop me before I ever got to basic. If you don't know why this band is so important they are the band you hear when the President enters. They perform all over the world for the leaders of other countries. They are the elite band. We also toured the Belmont Mansion. I thought Tuesday was drama/comedy day but it wasn't. It was visual arts day. Harold Gregor shared his life in his art with us. He is an amazing artist and quite the comedian. At 83 years of age he may not understand some of the things that young people like today but he could teach them a craft if you will that would exceed what we can do digitally. I've learned several new things I want to use at school and found a great song that I know the church choir could rock in that new sanctuary come September. I also sang in the chorale today. It's been along time since I sang with a group of people of that caliber (their all vocal teachers). Katie, one of the art teachers I work with and I visited the Green Hills area the last two nights. We also found a great little Mexican place for dinner, we've only ate two of our three meals out there. Tonight we found the teacher store which has a large selection of music and art items. I wish I could post some links but on the iPad it's harder than my laptop. So I apologize for the plain ole posts this week. Tomorrow is drama day. It's also the banquet where they present some great awards. I won't tell you who is being honored but he wrote music that was in Iron Man 2. To bad Robert Downey Jr won't be here. :) I'll try to post all about it tomorrow.

Exciting Week Ahead

For those of you who are looking for some great posts this week stay tuned. I am in beautiful Nashville, Tennessee attending the Tennessee Arts Academy. It's a week of learning and fun for Fine Arts teachers. It all started yesterday with an amazing concert by 18 year old piano prodigy Conrad Tao. Today will be a day full of classes with a performance by the 129th Army Band. Today's musing is led by Colonel Lowell E. Graham and for fun I'm going to learn how to juggle. I think my middle schoolers as well as my own four kids would get a kick out of that. I hope to be able to post a quick review and pictures each day this week. I'm on the iPad so it may not work out as I have planned. I hope you look forward to meeting some of the awesome musicians and artist I will be telling you about. I'm off to breakfast. Have a great day!

Fall Break--Brandcation--Just What Momma Needs!

I came across this awesome website the other day, Mom Dot. I was perusing when I saw a post titled Win a ticket and lodging to Brandcation. As I scrolled down and saw this picture I thought, "I would love to vacation there."

As I read on I realized that those mountains are my mountains. Okay not exactly mine, but there the ones I see everyday, the Great Smoky Mountains. The more I read the more excited I became. There is a bloggers weekend close by.

I did pay attention to the first sentence that said, "we sold out." So the only way I will be able to attend is to win.

Why do I want to attend Brandcation? Well, I've been blogging for awhile and want to take my blog to the next level. I'm a people person, I love to meet new people. I'm a talker and I love to tell others about all the cool things I do.

Why would Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Sevierville area be a great bloggers weekend for me? It's close by, I don't have to feel super guilty for leaving my husband with four kids for a few days. We visit the area regularly but haven't been to many of the attractions there. We shop at the outlets and camp and go to Dollywood, which is on the agenda. Would having a Dollywood pass already help me win?

Another great reason for me to attend is to pass the word to locals about all the great attractions we are missing out on. Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/ Sevierville area needs an awesome blogger to tell the world all about it too. I would be a great spokesperson for the area.

The other reason I would like to go is by the first weekend in October, I'm going to need a break. A fall break in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains. I would love to take that break and meet 33 outstanding bloggers, who I could learn from, spend time with, and maybe even make some new best friends.

Attending this Brandcation would help me make my blog a bigger presence on the World Wide Web, help me spread the word about everything Sevier County has to offer, give me a chance to make new friends, and give me a fall break I won't soon forget.

I would like to say thanks to Mom Dot,  Minnesota Blogger Life with Levi, and Toni at Just Stop Screaming for sponsoring this awesome giveaway and helping one lucky blogger with the cost of their ticket, lodging and expenses.

I would LOVE to be that lucky blogger, so alas good luck to all those who enter, and may the right one be chosen. I hope it's me!
