Bible In a Year--Review and Giveaway

The cover of this Bible just draws me in. It says pick me up and read me every time I pass by.  I received a copy of this Bible from Tommy Nelson to review as a Tommy Nelson Mommy. It is a New Century Version and is a Bible in a Year. It is set on a fifth grade reading level so all of my kids can read it, no matter their reading level. It's easier for some and a little challenging for others. It is divided into daily selections from both Testaments, Psalms and Proverbs. It also has extra insert pages. We are currently using this Bible for our daily reading. It is great for our evening Bible reading and helps us fulfill our schools daily reading requirement.

I would love for you to join our family as we read through the Bible in 2014. Will you join us? Enter below to win a copy of your own for you and your family.

Every Day a Blessing--Review and Giveaway

Every Day a Blessing is a wonderful book of short devotions for elementary aged children. Although I would also recommend it for younger children. You can even get it for kindle. It isn't dated and has daily and weekend devotions, scripture and ways to see blessings in your life or to be a blessing to someone else.

I'll be honest with you there was a little argument when this book came. We looked through it, read a few of the devotions to see how we liked it and then two of the kids decided to take off with it. They finally decided they could share it and both of them could be blessed. But then we had younger visitors who got really excited about the cover of the book. So we added this book to their collection. We hope they are blessed and bless others every day because of it. And I'm going to purchase a copy of it for those two kiddos who know they did the right thing but really want that book.

Would you like to bless a child today with this book? Just enter below!

My Friend Jesus--The Gospel for Kids--Review and Giveaway

I received a copy of the book My Friend Jesus-The Gospel for Kids by Kathryn Slattery to review. My kids loved it! All four of my kiddos have asked Jesus in their heart and have been baptized.

This book is written in such a way that children can understand. It has no denominational affiliation so no matter what church you attend this is a great book to tell the gospel story about Jesus. It also has a prayer at the end that helps guide children in their relationship with Jesus.

The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. My kids decided to share this book with a younger friend who knows about Jesus but hasn't asked him in to his heart. We hope that this book will help him out.

Would you like to share this book with a child you know? Fill in the entry form below. One winner will be selected randomly. Contest ends Friday, January 31st.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book to review with my family from Tommy Nelson because I'm a Tommy Nelson Mommy. Opinions are my own and I received no monetary compensation.

One God, One Plan, One Life--Devotional Giveaway

I have four books from Tommy Nelson to give away. I'm behind so I'm posting all of them this afternoon in separate posts. Be sure to check out all the new posts from today and register to win!

Max Lucado has a new devotional for teens. This is his first devo for teens. One God, One Plan, One Life offers teens 365 days of guided quiet time. It also includes two Bible reading plans in the back of the book. As I've read through some of these devotions I love the questions that follow each day's reading. It really encourages teens to pull God into their everyday lives.

Each day also has a daily verse. These are great to work on memorizing verses, because most of them are short. Not only can teens spend time with God even with their busy schedule but they can also increase their memory bank of verses too.

Do you have a middle or high schooler that you would like to share this book with?  Just click through the rafflecopter below and enter to win.

Grace for the Moment--365 Devotionals for Kids--Giveaway

I'm a little behind in my reviews. So this is the first of four giveaways this month. I hope to have them all on the blog by the end of the week.

The first is for Max Lucado's  Grace for the Moment 365 Devotionals for Kids. This is adapted from the adult version Grace for the Moment. You can check out these books by clicking through any of the links in this post.

Each day's devotion has a scripture verse, devotion and kid friendly activity called "Growing in Grace." They are dated so if you aren't consistent or like to use several different devotion books you can just go to that particular day and you haven't missed anything in between.

We have several devotional books that the kids use and they seem to like that this one because it is a quick read.

The winner of this book will actually receive Grace for the Moment for Kids and the original Grace for the Moment for adults.

Here is a link for a glimpse of the kids version Grace for the Moment for Kids.

This link is for the two week challenge which gives you two free weeks of devotionals from each book. They are in PDF and will only take about 15 minutes to do with your family. There are also some great tips for leading devotionals. Here is the link Grace Challenge.

Be on the look out for a book geared to teens plus two other giveaways this week.

I'm trying out Rafflecopter for the first time. I hope it makes it easier for you to register to win. It also gives you more chances to win.

Giveaway--The Beauty Book

Last month I gave away the fiction book Here's Lily. This month I am excited to offer the nonfiction companion book The Beauty Book. It is geared toward the 7-11 age group and is full of information about hair, clothing, skin care and more. The most important thing girls will learn from this book is that their confidence in God should be first and foremost.

My eight year old has enjoyed reading Here's Lily. She isn't so much into beauty things yet, but my ten year old is. We have been working through the book and answering the questions.

I have one copy of the The Beauty Book (click this link to read a little of it) to give away this month.

Leave me a comment/answer to the following question in the comments below and you will be registered to win.

How do you apply God's definition of beauty with your daughter's in today's world?

You have until midnight, June 30th to enter. Good luck!

Disclaimer: As always Tommy Nelson kids provided me with a copy of The Beauty Book to review. I receive no compensation other than the book.

Here's Lily--Book Giveaway

Another awesome book from Tommy Nelson to giveaway this weekend.

If you know anything about my kids you know Maggie loves to read. The other three, well maybe if it's raining outside and the power is out and all the games are put away.

So when Here's Lily the first in a series came in the mail, she was very excited to get it read.

Maggie tells me, "It's about a girl and of course her name is Lily, Mom. A women comes to school and gives Lily a makeover and she decides to be a model. Well Mom you have to read the book to find out what happens in the end!"

I asked, "Maggie would you recommend this book to your friends?"
"YES, this is a fun book to read and you learn lots of things too," she said.

Thanks Maggie for the interview, guess I'll be reading Here's Lily for my book of the week.

I know you want to read Here's Lily with your daughter. It's written for the 4-7 age group and it's companion nonfiction book is also available to purchase through Tommy Nelson called The Beauty Book.

Comment on the question below to win your own copy of Here's Lily. Contest ends at midnight, Sunday, June 3rd.

How do you apply God’s definition of beauty with your daughter’s in today’s world?

Swipe - Book Giveaway

Today's Tommy Nelson Kids giveaway is a book for Tweens and Teens titled SWIPE. I will admit I haven't had time to read this book. I have looked at the trailer and it looks very much like a teen version of the adult Left Behind Series.

scaled_e1334758599.jpg
Logan's 13th birthday is just around the corner. The world is different post-apocalyptic and everyone is having to get the "Mark." The mark is a tattoo that when swiped tells everything about you. Logan has an eery feeling he is being watched and isn't sure he wants the mark. His sister never came back from getting hers. Logan and his friends set out to find the truth about the mark.

My middle school friend Greta has read it and says she would recommend it to her friends. She is also excited for the new book to come out this fall.

Here is a link to the flipbook for Swipe. It will allow you to read the first few pages.

Would you like to get this book in the hands of your teen? I think it would be a great parent/child read together. If you've never done that you should. You both read the same chapters each day and then discuss what you've read and how it affects you, in this case your faith.

To enter to win answer the following question in the comment below. You have until midnight, Sunday, June 3rd.

How do encourage your children to become free-thinkers and discover their faith on their own while still protecting them within your home?

Disclaimer: Remember I am not paid for my reviews but I am given copies to review and share with you!

Hermie--God Listens When I Pray--Giveaway

Young readers often have trouble understanding what they are reading. They also have trouble understanding how God works in their lives. Max Lucado's, Hermie: God Listens When I Pray  is a great book to help them understand how God listens when we pray.

As the Mom of 4, I often forget that they all aren't on the same playing field in their walk with God. While we pray every morning on the way to school, and now during summer break at breakfast, they all pray for different things and people. Depending on which child is praying determines what and who they are praying for.

Mollie who is 5 always prays for the dogs, ours and the neighbors, which then leads to the neighbors being prayed for too. Mattie usually prays for each of us and our day. Maggie typically prays for friends, classmates, family and other needs she has heard of. Michael always prays for safety, particularly when it's dark and rainy. Mikie and I pray for them as we put them to bed.

No matter which child is praying, God is always listening. This book helps children learn more about praying. Encourage your children to read and pray with this book.

Want one of your own? Leave a comment below and tell me about your prayer routine. It's okay if you don't have a routine, we have really just started ours the last few months.

Don't forget to leave your comment by midnight, Thursday, May 31st. I will use random.org to choose a winner.

Disclaimer: Thomas Nelson sent me this book to review and allows me to give one away.

Make Every Day Count--Max Lucado Giveaway

This month from Tommy Nelson Kids, I reviewed Max Lucado's book Make Every Day Count. I felt like since it was a book geared to teens that I should get first hand knowledge of this book from a teen. I gave my copy to a middle school aged friend, Greta, who gave me her own personal opinion. Our church has just finished another study series and Greta felt that Make Every Day Count came at a great time for her.
She says, "It is an encouraging yet convicting piece of writing. It uses personal testimonies and newspaper articles to support the idea. Max Lucado reminds us to treat everyday like it's our last, while still focusing on Jesus Christ. It's a great book for all ages but especially teens and preteens. I enjoyed it and I know you will too."

When Greta finished the book she passed it on to Emily, who said it really made her think and was great for her daily reading time. I'm not sure which one of the youth has it now, but I saw it getting passed around the table at Wednesday night supper week before last. I'm guessing the whole youth group may read it and I'll never see it again, and that's alright with me!

You can check out the first chapter here.

Want a copy of your own? Leave a comment below for a chance to win.

Answer this question:
Parent's, what is one thing you want your teen/s to know before they leave each morning?
Don't have a teen in your house, but know one you'd like to give this book to? What would you tell that teen if you could only tell them one thing?

As always, I received this book as part of the Tommy Mommy Bloggers program. I don't receive compensation, my opinions are my own (and I have many :). You have until April 2nd to comment and I will use random.org to choose a winner. Have a great end of March!

An "I Love You" Prayer--Giveaway

This is an adorable book, An "I Love You" Prayer written by Amy Parker and illustrated by Frank Endersby is about two friends, a cat and a puppy, who share the ways that God loves everyday. A mother bird feeds her babies, a turtle finds water, the puppy has a warm doghouse out of the rain, a rainbow and a blue sky appear and God's love is shown.

Teaching our young children about God's love is sometimes difficult for them to understand. This book An "I Love You" Prayer emphasizes the importance of love. It has a sweet rhyming prayer and beautiful illustrations.

Since the book is a board book it's great for even the smallest child, it's written for ages 1-5 years. Parents can start early sharing God's love and teaching their child how to love others.

Now for a chance to win this cute book.

How would your kids answer this question, "God's love is like__________________."

Comment on this post and let me know their answer. Tommy Nelson Kids has given me one of these great books to give away. Contest will end at midnight, February 29th.

Disclaimer: Tommy Nelson Kids gave me a book to share with my kids. The opinions in this post are mine.

Giveaway--Thomas Nelson Kids--"cliques, hicks and ugly sticks"

Drama, whose life isn't full of it? Just when I thought my blogspot problem was fixed something else would happen and I would lose my post for this book again. You would think after typing and losing it three separate times I would have gotten smart enough to forgo the drama involved and type it in Pages and then copy and paste. Oh no, not I. I hand wrote it at lunch one day and guess what? I can't find it.
I've always had drama in my life but I really think it's getting much worse. Maybe it has to do with working with middle schoolers everyday, cause I'm sure having four children of my own has nothing to do with it (insert big smile).

Well, now for what you came here for. "Cliques, hicks, and ugly sticks," is a wonderful middle school aged book about the drama that unfolds in the life of April Grace Reilly. This is the second book in the "Confessions of April Grace," series. As if junior high or middle school isn't bad enough throw in a selfish neighbor, a love triangle involving your grandma, "the snotties," and the news that your mom is pregnant and the drama that ensues is enough to keep you in stitches.

K.D. McCrite has hit right up the alley of most girls this age who can relate to April Grace and the drama that she is involved in. Finding out that at the age of 11 you're going to be a big sister is a huge surprise. Most small children don't take it well, but imagine what April Grace must be thinking. I won't tell you, you'll have to read to find out.

I see the drama that "the snotties" at my middle schools cause everyday and I remember those who could have been a "snottie" when I was that age. Oops, I hope none of them read this post. This is a must read for any tween girl or her mommy that grew up in the 80's. If the cover picture doesn't draw you in the story certainly will.

Click here to read the first chapter! Then come back and let me know what you think.

There are several ways to enter the contest to win your own copy of the book, "cliques, hicks and ugly sticks." Do the things below and come back here and leave a different comment for each. I will choose a winner on Valentine's Day night to win the book.

Good luck!

Here are your 5 ways to win:
1. Share an instance you or your child had that was difficult at the time, but now you can look back and laugh or learn from it.
2. Friend  April Grace Reilly on FaceBook and come back and comment below and let me know you did.
3. Like mommyto4mjs on FaceBook and let me know. If you already do let me know that too!
4. Follow mommyto4mjs on Twitter and come back and let me know.
5. Read the first chapter of the book and let me know what you think!

Disclaimer: As a Tommy Mommy I am able to review this book that was sent to me. The opinions are mine and I am not paid to write this post.
